Blog #12 Website Work

This tool is essentially a way to force your hand into having a professional presence online. You may already be doing that (LinkedIn for example; Facebook only if you’re using it to promote yourself as a professional). This could also facilitate you getting a job! Most employers in most professions do a web-search of a future employee. If that employee has a website, that is the first search that generally comes up. THIS is what you want your future boss to see (for an idea of what they'll find, Google yourself!)
Blog by Thursday, July 6th and respond by Sunday, July 9th
URL & QR Code for your FINAL website is due by Wednesday, July 12th
Peer evals of websites are due by Friday at midnight; either put in your student folder OR email to me.

  1. My first thought while creating this website, was WOW, this site (wix) is SO easy and user friendly! I love it. It has been the easiest, to use, in the whole class- for me anyway. I am talking about the program we use to create our sites. Because it is so user friendly, it makes it enjoyable to create! I am doing well with creating my website and I am excited to see how it turns out. Right now I am creating it as if a future boss would want to look at it but it also includes some things I will use in my classroom and can convert it over to a classroom site. I can just pull from this one the things I want to add to my class site. Or I even have it to where I could use this as my personal site for my classroom but when I have my own class, I will want to personalize it a little more to that specific class. I will definitely use this site in my future!

    1. It took a while for me to get used to it. I realized that before creating a website, you need to decide on what kind of website you want to create and how you want it to look like. Once thats decided, it becomes very easy to use and saves up so much time. I love how wix is filled with so many inspiring templates that helps you explore its features and makes creating websites enjoyable.

    2. I found it very interesting and easy to use too. It provides you with plenty of templates and ideas to use for building your website. I could also find plenty of video tutorial explaining how to build six website, so that was very helpful too.

  2. I have always wanted to create a photography website but I didn't know how. Even though I had been hearing about wix.com on advertisements for quite sometime now, I never really gave it a shot. I am glad I got introduced to it again in this course. I have been playing with wix for the past couple of days and I must say that it is so much fun. I decided to create a chemistry laboratory kind of website where I am currently working on trying to include my resumes, portfolios and research blogs under different tabs. At first, I was a little overwhelmed and I didn't quite know what kind of template I should go with and what kind of theme my website should have. But now that I have decided on how i want the website to look like, it is becoming so much easier and less time consuming.

    1. This is how I was at first, but I seemed to learn very quickly and figure out exactly how I wanted my site. Once I figured this out, I loved making it! Do you happen to have your QR code to your site?

  3. Creating personal website was one of the things this course opened to my eyes. It is a powerful way to share your skill and interests with others, which can help with applying for careers and even graduate schools. Since it can be updated anytime, I think personal websites are a great way to follow your progress over time, which helps you be aware of your progress and recognize what you need to improve. I found WIX to be very useful and easy to use website, and the fact that it free and it gives you so many options and templates to build your personal website is fascinating. I was really impressed with I can do with wix to share my skills and experience with others. I am thrilled to have my first website, and will continue to update and improve it every time.
